That multi-coloured garment…
I want to be loved. And I want to say
"I need to be so loved", which may be true.
For surely I'm in need of you each day,
& all that comes from you, comes with love true.
Please teach me, grow me up, to learn to love,
and please give me your wisdom to express
the love that can respond to yours above
all other happenings, which will address
another's needs, and pass on (with foresight),
the love you've given me to pass around
about this spot you've put me in tonight
with you as never-ending source, we're bound
to fill up all this Universe with love°.
Well ev'ry person who (potentially)
appreciates it, lets it fill and cov-
er up, as love just loves to do, when free.
It's like love is all colour, we're the "eyes".
Love's colours are just seen by eyes who've got
those "cones" within them, so to realize;
to "see", "distinguish", "pass on" the whole lot
of colour that surrounds us where we've fared.
It might still be quite true that "sparing rods,
will spoil the children" but if cones are spared
all colour clues are then lost on such bods,
'less there's redundancies built in for such
a happening, such folk can't oversee
the purposes in life where colours touch
a sky, a person, even you and me.
* scientists have discovered that our eyes (& the eyes of dogs & horses) can see in low light situations through the use of little cells in the retina of the eyes called "rods", & our eyes (& the eyes of other animals, like bees) can see the colours that exist because of little cells in the retina of the eyes called "cones". Most humans have both rods and cones.
° His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature. 2 Pet 1:3-4 NRSV-CI
