Being Barty

Regarding Barty now, oh Lord Jesus,

you prob'ly know our texts, please help us grow

in ways we see we need to, and seize us

in any way you think is good to go.

Thanks for that time of richness with the folk

in Mack, and thank you for all those who went,

we know we are a special kind of joke,

the dust and breath of God, and then we're sent.

I join with Barty to pray for your pow'r

or boldness to say what your love would say

appropriate to that place, and that hour,

no matter whether other folk think "Hey!

You can't say that! It doesn't fit our thoughts!

-of what's ok, and what's acceptable."

Help Barty to be so far, and so fraught,

so taught by your love's way, contemptible

to other mindsets that look for control,

that when he shares his life, he shares his faith,

and hope and love as we learned from our role -

role-model who is Jesus. Heaven's safe

because he's there. But somehow he's here too,

to play some table tennis, as a neigh-

bour, brother to some other people who

you'd name as people, that we think you'd say

you'd die for if they ONLY were alive.

And then there's Barty's fam-il-y 'n bairns.

Please help them not to just get by, survive;

may they know they are children of I AM's.
