first love

We find that we love (God,  & then too, those
which we see all around us ev'ry day),
because God first loved us, he said he chose
to, not because of coercion, his way

is naked love which is not for a cause,
(at least that is the way that I see it),
it's not because of any other laws,
itself is the first cause, and can't be split!

And God had thrown the ball into the scrum,
he got things going, taught us all the game,
as mums and dads teach little ones to come,
and gain a sense of humour, all the same.

So now we know what 't'slike, to be this loved,
and how it's not at all for what he'll get,
but how he can bless (not to see folk shoved
or MADE to be so). We will not forget.
