The Lord is my ... ...

The Lord is my leader
my trainer/ protect-or,
my refuge, and feeder,
my coach, (and neglect-or -

when I need a blend'a
neglecting to save me
from my own agenda,
that would en-grave me).

The Lord is my leader
so I'm not gunna fret,
I don't really need a
thing, he's not finished yet.

The Lord is my gardener,
he's a pruner/ trainer,
cuts my options, hard'ner
of off-shoots to retain.

The Lord is my shepherd;
that means I'm his own sheep.
He knows all my history,
he hears each time I bleat.

The Lord is my leader
so I'm not gunna fret,
I don't really need a
thing, he's not finished yet.

The Lord is my master
I'm glad to be his slave
(or his dog, or donkey)
I don't want to behave

just because I have to,
I want for devotion
and trust to grow in me
as more than a notion.

The Lord is my teacher,
and I am his student,
he knows much more than me,
and he knows what's prudent.

The Lord is my leader
so I'm not gunna fret,
I don't really need a
thing, he's not finished yet.

The Lord, he is my judge.
I know he knows the lot
(his mercy will not budge),
his sentences are not

ever over-riden
(no-one can gain-say him),
since he says "not-guilty",
I will not betray him!

The Lord's my feudal lord,
(or else my modern boss) -
good one, who shares his hoard
and profits (and our loss)!

The Lord is my leader
so I'm not gunna fret,
I don't really need a
thing, he's not finished yet.

The Lord is my High-King.
He is my Em-per-or.
I will be found fighting
what's against what he's for!

The lover of my soul
is The Lord, I'll respond
to his call to be whole
by personal lover's bond!

The Lord is my leader
so I'm not gunna fret,
I don't really need a
thing, he's not finished yet.

The Lord is my god,
the God of gods is he.
I'll look for his nod,
and copy what I see!

The Lord is my father
(and mother too you know)
there's none whom I'd rather
be like, so here I go!

The Lord is my leader
so I'm not gunna fret,
I don't really need a
thing, he's not finished yet.

I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in fields of green grass
and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised.
Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, Lord, for you are with me.
Your shepherd's rod and staff protect me.
You prepare a banquet for me, where all my enemies can see me;
you welcome me as an honored guest and fill my cup to the brim.
I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life;
and your house will be my home as long as I live.
