We thank you God, for letting us become
involved in what you do, as child - your own,
to teach us love, & grow our minds, and some,
so we will be equipped to know/ be known*.
And thinking through that statement said by Paul;
that "we shall know as we ourselves are known",
we start to see relating might be all
important since the knowledge you have shown
us isn't really what's kept to yourself,
the number of the hairs upon our heads,
for we can't keep that from you, we can't help
you know it more. You know what's in our beds;
our lying down, our rising up, and more.
You know more facts about us than we do.
But when it's said to some folk, who'd ignored
their king (& father) that he "..never knew°"
them, diff'rent terms of speech are there employed.
This knowledge that you have is 'coz we share
a friendship, like a little girl or boy
develops in response to parents' care,
and tells their Mum or Dad what's in their heart,
the pains of body, and the grumpiness,
frustrations and the longings as they start
up and the journey's opened, though a mess,
to loving one, with all the stuff of life.
The stuff that friendships share is personal,
the kind of things a husband and a wife
might share, by ope'ning up, receiving well.
* "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV
"But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Galatians 4:9 KJV
° "And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:23 KJV
