Refuge & Strength

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. Psalm 46:1 (PM Version)

God is our refuge,
and God is our strength,
always ready to
help when shadows length-

-en & troubles wash,
threaten to engulf,
sink, then pressures squash,
squeeze out life & health,

- in times of trouble;
we see that we have
lived in a bubble,
which has burst at length,

so we really are
not just "going back"
to the way things were,
gone from grey to black.

That's the special time
God starts to create,
bring new kinds of rhyme,
models love (not hate).

When we're overcome
shot at & bereft,
& we feel spat on,
forsaken, and left;

That Son of Adam
showed us how to be
one who walked or ran
to God - "Refugee!"

Other occassions,
we need to run/hide,
from stuff that threatens
& let past the tide,

or then onward plod,
walk into conflict,
trusting still that God
(who may seem quite strict)

at the core IS LOVE,
& will give energy,
will work in us (gloved
in us, you & me)..
