There's nothing that's more solid, than what seems
to be the most ephemeral of all.
Appearances are sometimes just the means,
not ends. We need much wisdom to stand tall.
But we can train ourselves to magnify
one piece within the puzzle, which is mine,
but also which can hinder me if I
have not a key piece, 'n'have just so much time.

The chances are, as Christ seems so to think,
that all these pieces, are just drafts and mocks,
and they'll all be exchanged in just a wink
for real ones, and there'll be a lot of shocks.
The only words quite solid, are both truth
and love when mixed together in a per-
son, written on and in the skin of youth,
and early middle age. Such words will stir!
And when the sound of that soft whisper comes,
or else the final woes from prophet's mouth,
I see this gives me insight to (& numbs
me to) the fears that paralyse with doubt.
So when that man who is God's Message to
humanity, one stamped to be "GOD' S WORD"1,
says "don't judge by appearances2" as do
we often. Then, I think that I have heard
a ring of truth about them. I will hear,
and learn from him to not hold tightly on
to this life whose appearance will be sheared
like wool from off the sheep - it shall be gone.
And small and vul'-n'ra-ble, 'sthe living crit-
er, which survives a few times being shorn,
but wool can last for centuries, so it
can seem to be more lasting, once it's borne
into this world upon the skin of sheep
(who's skin is also used when parchment's made,
or skins would carry wine that helps men keep
on celebrating, and keeps fears at bay.)
But if he's right, and only what endures
will be the faith, hope, love that's carried in
the skin of those3 whose lives act more as lures,
to catch in people, to save them from sin.
Where "sin" is missing all our hopes and dreams,
the falling short of faithfulness and love.
And if the new creation is the means,
en-a-ble-ing that life that's from above
to live and thrive, once more upon this Earth.
I'll take the time to sort out what offends,
and help that trust and love to show it's worth
within God’s garden plot, to make amends4.
And then the beauty of his ways and means
is seen for what it is, and is not too.
Concerned for what it is, not just what seems,
The peep we get woos us on so to do!
to be the most ephemeral of all.

1. “..a white horse, whose rider is called faithful and true, for his judgment and his warfare are just. His eyes are a flame of fire and there are many diadems upon his head. There is a name written upon him, known only to himself. He is dressed in a cloak dipped in blood, and the name by which he is known is the Word of God.” Revelation 19:13
2. Jesus: “..don’t judge by appearances, learn to make a righteous judgement.” & God’s example (John 7:24; Gal 2:6)
3. Jesus: “..use ‘money’, tainted as it is, to make yourselves friends, so that when it comes to an end, they may welcome you into eternal habitations” (Luke 16:1-9)
4.Jesus: “..if, while you are offering your gift at the altar, you should remember that your brother has something against you, you must leave your gift there before the altar and go away. Make your peace with your brother first, then come and offer your gift.”... (Matt 5:23-24)
