Oh help us please dear God, with wisdom now,
to weigh quite carefully just what to do.
We have some time, but not a lot, somehow,
to plan and focus on the son of you.
And we recall just how you've blessed the world,
in sending your own son to lead us well.
Not forcing people, yet your flag's unfurled,
his life's a wooing more than we could tell.
So is a Saturday (& Friday night)
to focus on the love and strength of him,
with friends who came those other times alright,
the best way forward, though our strength be dim?
The Lord (not just his gifts of life and health,
of rest and food, and sensing what is here),
HE is my strength, and my salvation, wealth,
my shelter, that's my place to live (quite near).
This world is better for the folk who lived
within it as if you, their "Father", will
provide. It's Metaphor that must be seived
and settled (like our hearts), with "Peace. Be still!"
And so we take that admonition on
(from James, but really) from his biggest bro,
to note our lacks, in life, and yet be strong
well, settled in our minds in who we know
that is the source of goodness of all kinds;
the wisdom, and the pluck, as well as joy,
and lift our hearts to you, that you might find
some children left, who'll trust you like your boy.
So now we ask you for your wisdom and
your very nature - creativity
(from love, that makes a world where folk can stand)
that led to the advent (nativity) -
and trust whatever way we chose (with you),
will in a sense that's strange, be "just the one"
and we'll be confident that what you do
will help us mirror more your very "son",
who said to us that time, "Come, follow me!"
Now we have heard his voice, though not those words.
Except in our mind's eye, we haven't "seen"
him, yet we love him. Some say "That's absurd!",
some say ...things…. But this Master, he's a Boss!
And I am betting all my life on him!
I'll learn, like Mary, to count not my loss,
but opportunity to grow less dim.
