Jesus's kinda twist on the old wordings/understandings:

[against a background where the Jews were resting on their laurels as the "the chosen few", seeing themselves as the highest and best, deserving the service of the other nations, instead of following God's lead with them in "hearing their cry, and coming down to (see for himself) what life was really like for them, and getting his hands dirty in serving them.]
