Oh God, we need you, and we're glad you don't

mind hanging round with people just like us.

You're better than those parents who just won't

be drawn to immaturities and fuss

in self protective style. You know your kids

are immature, and you’re committed still

to their advancement, but though you’ll be hid,

sometimes you’ll let them see enough to fill

them with the right respect - to settle down

and do what must be done to form a world

where folk will listen more than just spruik clown-

ishly, to keep on stage and not be furled

up, put away, and seem to have no use.

Our need to so be needed is more like

the tipping of our hat, or our excuse

for thinking that we have no worth. No psych’

is needed to connect the dots for us.

A Father present for us, if we’ll let

him speak into our lives, as one who does

with wisdom & with love, for our good. Bet

chew know the ways, we, conscious of ourself

more than we’re conscious of our maker who

has made the world - a better place to dwell

for humans can't be found. So, we would do

whatever must be done to grow our selves

up to be conscious of what we don’t “see”,

but know in deeper ways; as rest and health

sometimes are more concluded, though they be.
