Buried & Resurrected

Matt G. led our focus this morning[1]. We were given some bright pink post-it notes. Told to take one, & write on it Two things to “offer to God” on  this morning. I took Matt G. to mean “faults or failings or weaknesses” though after a while I wasn’t sure if others had chosen any offering; even the sacrifice of a good thing. Any way I stuck with what I thought he wanted for then. Then he took us all outside under a tree, to a hole that had already been dug with a shovel & offered us the opportunity to personally put our note into the hole & put some of the dirt onto it. During this process I looked up & noticed about 20 galahs, lined along the branches or hovering above, watching; who then flew off as we finished:

About a score of bird
(with “post-it notes” of pink)
were watching (& they heard)
a score of “birds” (small wink)

below them at their tree,
a score of people stood,
and listened to Matt G.
& offered up to Good

some things they weren’t proud of
(& maybe good things too?)
for worms to eat
to make the sweet
good soil as they do
(with poo).

(Of my two; a failing
that I wrote on that pink
sticky-note was “ailing
‘bout what ‘they’, of me, think.)

They took their pink-ish notes
& buried them below
the tree where sits (or floats)
the score of birds (or so).

And these, the witnesses,
then flew off with news-sing
“the human litmus-es[2]
show life is renewing”.

And the breeze that blew may
have brought the spirit/breath (in)
that came that “Jordan” day
Jesus pre-buried death (sin).

[2] A “litmus paper” is a small note of  coloured paper, which when torn from its book & dipped into a liquid turns a shade of pink or blue, which colour in turn shows the acidity/alkalinity of the liquid it is dipped in. This could show various things about what is growing, or could grow, in or with, that liquid.

  1. just read an interesting article which spoke "by the by" of where one gains their self-worth: It didn't give much away, but underscored the issue well for me. Here's the link:
