To listen to the word of God: to hear 

& try to understand God’s Will and Ways 

is job of ev’ry human to appear

from humus, breathing breath of God, these days.

For words, as all sound does, come on a breath, 

a movement of the air within this sky

(between the earth & heavens), before death

our bodies are the same, if they’re alive.

A “sign of life” for humans living here

is breathing, then there’s pumping blood around

the body with the stuff from atmosphere

transporting to each cell till all have found

enough of that “life air”, where e're down here

they be. And by analogy to breath 

we have from God’s own mouth in atmosphere,

his word to us - is what saves us from death

and gives us life - as needful as is food,

or drink (that maintains  “blood” to transport air).

The word has purpose only to all who

develop from a human culture, shared,

a kind of will, or ways, or hopes and dreams.

It holds the language, as a symbol/ tool

for carrying of meaning which it seems

keeps us above the animals, to rule

in ways that are consistent with our source

of life and meaning, reason d’etre, which

might help us sense the links that are of course

what holds us up & gives our games their pitch!
