celebrating gifts, especially with a couple that hosted a birthday party for their daughter-in-law.
We thank you God for that good night we had
& for the chance to celebrate the life
that's come from your own breath, you are our Dad,
our Abba, from whom ev'ry good comes rife
with goods and services which we can see,
appreciate & long for, even when
we cannot replicate them for they be
above us as the sky is over men.
And for the way your love is seen in this..
this life down here, when Dad's and Mum's all round
choose actions which commit to growth and bliss
of little tykes they've landed on this ground.
And thank you to the two of you as well,
for opening your home and yard, and stuff.
We lived another night with less of hell
(especially when we find that things are tough).
And brother/sister, offers like yours to
accept a rag-tag bunch like all of us,
just friends & neighbours of the kids of you
and us (as well), & then to make a fuss
by helping out with brollies and your gas,
and toilet paper, water, and your pow'r,
your lawn all mowed, and welcome smile then as
folk come (you do not know), and not be sour.
This helps us all with tiny glimpses of
a space that's ruled creatively by love,
right here on earth as life is lived in heav-
en. Makes me think of wisdom from above.
