Peace-maker?

Happy-go-lucky are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons (or daughters?) of God. (Matthew 5:9)

How does one act to bring a lasting peace?

To make peace with an enemy is what?

To crush them into little bits that cease

to wriggle (with reflexes that they’ve got)?

That’s what a part of me would like to do:

to love my self, and hate my enemy.

But I have lived enough now here with you

to know what we are like, both you and me.

The pride within us has “some dignity”!

If someone tries to crush us in our space

that doesn’t seem to bring much peace (to me).

The plan is flawed, before it’s put in place.

The only way that I can think might work

is to absorb the lashing out, & not

retaliate. But that seems so berserk

that it could not be borne by what I’ve got

my-self, within my make up, always I

want others to show their commitment first,

before I’ll even give that stuff a try.

It’s like I am so limited. The worst

thing is that I would often talk as though

I am so powerful, near fit to burst,

but my responses indicate a slow-

ness to expend much extra. I am cursed

with self aggrandizement, in the extreme.

What hope is there for such a race as mine.

Yeshua is the beacon many deem

to give us hope. And I think he’s sublime!
