Hey do you know what version Ann-Marie Richards used for her song for Phillipians 4:4 "delight yourself in the Lord, yes, find your joy in him at all times..." ?

I like it best because instead of "rejoice in the lord always" it says "find your joy in him"... the idea that you have to seek it and find it. And maybe it's through the choice to delight that we find it... 

I guess you can choose to rejoice too, but I like the 2 step process of delight and then find joy. 

I've really enjoyed thinking more about the sweetness of … (the 10 words) ... thanks. 

What other things have you been delighting in lately?  (I feel like it's a treasure hunt, and I want help, I want the clues from the treasures other people are finding to help me look better and find those golden chocolate eggs for myself!)

What other things have I delighted in? 

Well lately I have spied within the trees

around this place, a change in colours win-

ning dominance, perchance this contest seize-

es our imaginations which are apt

to make a race, or contest, war, or game

(depending on whether we feel we're trapped,

or free to choose, all lives are not the same -

for even with the same ol' DNA,

and circumstances, folk can diff'rent be.

Our mindset (What we look for? Who's to blame?)

will set us "grateful" or "grumpy" to be!

So I have been delighting in the plain

profound and simple joys that come along

into my world as gifts from who's to "blame"

for ev'ry good, complete thing that is strong,

that lives and breaths the patient breath of life,

the essence of our life, our loves & joys,

and thriving ecosystem which is rife

with outcomes of the disciplined good choice.

The song that I would learn to sing, to mean..

(instead of just "to mean to learn to sing"),

the sights and sounds and stuff that makes good dreams

the choices to recall what stuff will bring

the kind of life that God might hope for here,

the kind of dreams he'd have, and might too share,

dey bring de light of love quite close, quite near.

He said* "let there be light"; de light was there!

because he'll never give his "dam" away.

A "ram" who would learn love, and be a man

like his own Father who had thus displayed

the scorn of pain, and suffering themselves,

for reasons of a higher greater joy.

Oh God give us your spirit, essence, health

since you treated us as, called each, "My boy"!

Profound Joy...

Oh God, you are the joy of life itself.

As such you set up things for all the  "rest".

Your Shabbat for your icons, for good health

of all creation. You're simply "the best".

We're not your "slaves" or even  "working drones".

You don't need us at all. You love to love.

Your way / approach, to ev'rything you own

suggests life & abundance from above!

And strangest thing of all is your approach,

and your retiring presence like a wild  -

wild creature that would wait. You don't reproach,

except as a good parent trains their child.

You aren't  the pouncing predator we dread.

It's right to call you "Father", as he did.

You'd like to train our hearts, not just our heads.

Give motivations that could open lids

each morning, so our eyes could gladly serve

the purposes we give to them as parts

of these small bodies, joined by flesh, bone, nerve.

Since as a whole, our life's sustained by hearts.

Our job is to respond with heart and sole,

with hand and forehead, to your light of love.

And copy with our ev'rything, our whole,

our parents, even though they're far above.

We're learning not just acts, but motives too.

We're trying to take on your purposes.

To let your joys encompass all we do.

Your word's own hope, much more than what each sez..

May God the source of blessings bless you good.

And greater still, make you to be like him,

a source yourself to those around who could

be blessed by you without you growing dim.

Two choices seem to help me see more pass

out through me to the others round about;

some blessings bring more energy and "class"

when given up, they love to "get on out".

Choose these to give away. Look for this kind.

For your creator made you so to be.

It's like you can blame him. If you are blind,

you won't be painting watercolours, see!

But if he blesses you with sight, then see.

And if he gave you ears to hear with, hear!

The second choice is needful, that's that we

keep linked and looking to our source, who's near.

May God bless you, to be a blessing to

whoever you connect with on the way.

As he sent Jesus, so the Christ sent you

This is his way of blessing that endures.

It is his way of sending out khesêd,

(the loyal love of faithfulness that cures

from evil that would dominate and shed

the blood of others rather than itself.)

But faithful loyal khesed love makes folk

not by a force of arms, creative wealth

makes people who give life, instead of choke*.

Now, why would Jesus say that when we pray, 

we're not to babble on, as Hindus do?

Well, could it be that we, acting that way

would be like babies who just burp and spew..

When we in fact, through being given more

time, are like children  practicing to walk,

not babes, but children who are 2 to 4

but just beginning now to learn to talk, 

who try to learn from other babbling kids -

who're orphans with no parents to teach them. 

Also, since prayer may be in fact our bid 

somehow to now reach out and touch his hem,

acknowledging his presence, and invoke-

ing, pleading for his help, expecting it.

This most creative being is quite stoked,

his sons and daughters are not "little shits".

What sort of gift my prayers are to this one -

can I imagine how this God might feel? 

The Jewish prophets before "Adam's Son"

had some to say. Their metaphors reveal!

.. I think he might be bored right to the bone.

More unrespectable emotions - for 

creative folk - the prophets say were shown

by this God, to their rituals and more.

He didn't seem to think they made them rich.

More like detritus, stinking waste, that smelt

so much it made him sick, and start to itch,

and want to cleanse his earth on which they dwelt.

Why would Jesus say when we pray, not to babble on, like the pagans (could it be, that we would be like children who are learning to talk, who try to learn from other babbling children who have no parents to teach them). Also, since prayer may in fact be an invoking of this most creative being, what sort of gift might our prayers be to this being? How might such a God feel about our prayers? Listen, say, to the Jewish prophets before Jesus.. Might he not be utterly bored? What other (more unrespectable emotions - for a creative person) do the prophets attribute to this God?

Oh God, I am so weak at planning good-

ness for the woman who's become my wife.

It's like I  don't  have what it takes,  nor could 

become that kind of man within this life. ...

Yet here today you've given hope to me,

or maybe you've just given a reprieve,

for we had such a day as folk might see 

as high adventure, beauty unbelieve-

-a-ble, exotic, in our own back yard -

well with some stretching, at this Carcoar place:

some quiet times to think, and walking hard,

with 4 wheel driving at a lovely pace,

a cuppa out, and eating in, and fun

while list'ning to a story, or a book,

together and enjoying soaking sun

outside, and snoozing when our eyelids shook.

Then talking about loves and fears, and wants, 

within this day while jamb-packed, yet at rest.

While catching up with some of fam'ly gone

somewhere away - in other spots they nest.

So as I see it now, i want to thank

you God, and too the woman who's my wife,

who works with God to overfill my tank

with love, and give more goodness to this life.

And set myself to not just bask, but pass

it on, just like a hose does from a tap.

I am a hose (or cup?) not just a vase.

I'm made to carry, pass on your life-sap!

Oh God, I am the kind of critter that

seems always justifying itself when

it feels accused, or not adored, a rat

whose nature is to scavenge, and gnaw, then…

it wants to fight off any competish-

ion, for it is a beast, and is programmed

by DNA and training, no fetish

could change it to a thinker/ feeler; damned

as it might be, it's only hope is to

be drawn into a higher family which

might take it in, and not just to a zoo

where it would not be petted or enriched.

I need to join right in and soak up love,

a higher order than this nature knows,

a product that's received from up above

myself, and what I would myself have chose-

-en, for myself; I couldn’t  comprehend

or think of it. Analogies here close,

and might not bridge the gap between my friend

and me, I need to take another dose

of that there love, that's in the nature of

some higher order critters I have known.

The beastly part of me despises love,

and won't believe it is, though it's been shown.

So it must be denied, and suffer pain

(which might not be because it evil is).

And God, if you would now create again

this Son of yours, could I please help in this!

slumping or resting? ...

There is a slowness in myself sometimes

to take responsibility for me

and my actions, to see that they align

so much with love that they'd be called "loving",

or "kind", or "thoughtful", NOT "just in it for

the ride". There's something passive, that will slump.

And this is not that kind of rest from your

own work; it is a canc'rous kind of bump

but going IN. It's a concavity.

And so that is what tricked me in the past.

But God is doing surgery in me.

Or maybe "daily cream", that's working fast...

So Doctor God, whose healing powers are such

that when you help me diagnose myself,

I'm looking at your son/ apprenticed much,

and seeing with his eyes, that know good health

(for diagnoses that he made before,

have shown themselves to be insightful, right;

and his prescriptions are not just a chore,

they're clear and bring results in the "good fight"!)

So sometimes, I am seeing, I must take

up now a cross, that might be called "my own".

A way of working with death - at the stake -

it might be slow, but certainty has grown,

with trusting my own life, and comfort too,

into God's care, and know God wants the best

for me, and others also (folk like you).

I'm  trusting God to lead me to "his rest".
