An amazing day of learning

 (to be leaning forward)...

Connections made in this past day: Could you

please help me to recall anew what (all

that) I have learnt or started to see true

(& help me to forget what you would call

unhelpful to the processes you hoped

would happen in, and through, this man of yours).

I owe all that I am and how I’ve coped

to who has dreamed this world up. So, because

although I have participated some-

what in my growth and making, and some change-

es made within this world we see that’s come

about, around about us; when deranged

I find that I unmake, and bring some hell

into this world of yours, instead of what

reflects creative love and life. You’d tell

im-eed-yet-ly, I s’pose, ‘coz you’re the God

who’s bigger than I start to dream of now-

a-day’s work in this world of yours sure seems

to be a thousand years, but then somehow

a thousand of your years might pass like dreams

in one day of our life on Earth just now¹.

So “time” as we experience it here

is not so absolute, and fixed. I bow

to your choice of what’s useful. Glad you’re near

and operating still, though often through

the family of God, your fetuses,

within this womb, “our world” we call it. You

might know, when you said “Listen t’wat he says!²”

¹  “But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. (2 Peter 3:8 NRSVUE)

  • Insistently, confidently, through a godly (though lowly), friendly & concerned woman,  Mary, to the servants of the wedding tables, about Jesus: “Do whatever he tells you.”(John 2:5 NRSVUE)

  • Booming through a thick cloud round about, to Peter (, James & John), about Jesus:   “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!” (Luke 9:35 NRSVUE);  “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!” (Mark 9:7 NRSVUE); “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” ( Matthew 17:5 NRSVUE)

  • Moses addressing the people of God, Israel, before they enter the promised land: “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you shall heed such a prophet. [16] This is what you requested of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.’ [17] Then the Lord replied to me, ‘They are right in what they have said. [18] I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who shall speak to them everything that I command. [19] Anyone who does not heed the words that the prophet shall speak in my name, I myself will hold accountable. (Deuteronomy 18:15-19 NRSVUE)
